I am a fan of the modern bean bags, and I am not ashamed to admit that I was also a fan of the now antiquated bean bag of the 70s. In some ways they are basically nothing alike, but in others they both rule in my opinion. Yes, I know they are all bean bags, no matter which year they were designed, but the differences are remarkable.
There is a place in my heart for the slumped over, soufflé shape of the older model. The way my best friend would sprawl over it and migrate from position to position during the hours of pointless conversation we had in those days. But, now I appreciate the support of the well filled, intelligent construction of the updated version. I grew out of the stage where everything, including furniture had to reflect my support of my college football team. Now, the soft sensation of leather is the only thing I want to be on my seats. I guess I really lucked out with timing on them both, and I can keep a place in my heart for the former and the present bean bag designs.
If you would like a contemporary bean bag, visit the Funky Bean Bags site, but go elsewhere for an antiquated bean bag.

Beanbag furniture is the closest thing to heaven that you can put in a home entertainment area. There are so many variations and sizes available that everybody in your family can have a mini couch to monopolize all to themselves if you like. No more squabbling amongst the young members over the best seat in the house. Now, they can all be equal, and yet personalized according to individual style preferences.
Let the teenagers express their creative side with a bright coloured seat, and the tiny characters copy your well honed style. No matter what the choices, all will be beloved by their owners, and the silence in the room will put a smile on your face. The only thing left to do is figure out a way to get everyone to enjoy the same type of movies.
Make movie time a peaceful activity amongst your family by stocking up on designer bean bags from Funky Bean Bags.

In my quest to know about all things relating to bean bags, I sought out to locate a place called bean bag. My search did not turn up anything which truly fit the bill, so my next thought was to find the perfect named placed for which all things bean bag would flourish. Some of the immediate forerunners, involved the word lazy.
This led me to the information regarding a place called Lazy Island, which is located in Dixie County, Florida. It appears to be located in what could possibly be the least appealing named body of water, Deadman Bay. There is little more available online about this nearly mythical place, which I was disappointed about because it sounded oh so inviting in title alone. There was not even a wikipedia page, for which there almost always seems to be a page, no matter what the topic.

While vacationing in the Algarve I repeatedly encountered bean bags along my travels. The first sighting was on the beach below my hotel. As I was approaching the hotel for the first time I passed a beachfront restaurant and bar that was swarming with bathing suit clad families. After dropping off my bags I returned for a cool beverage and a siesta on one of the bean bags.
Next, I saw the squishy seats lining the dock next to the tour boat I was boarding. In fact, I had been instructed by the lady I bought my tickets from that I should look for the seats in order to find the right boat. In both instances the bean bags caught my attention better than a banner, flag, or even hammock would have done. I can easily see why they are being used by companies, considering the fact that they look good and feel great.

A whole island filled with a garden bean bag collection. That must be what the woman who wrote in a blog that she would like to visit a bean bag island envisaged. At least that is what imagery formed in my mind when I read about her wish. It would be a plethora of bean chairs scattered from one side of tropical paradise escape to the other.
I guess the next thought would involve icy fruity beverages being served upon trays by exotic looking inhabitants. Possibly a feast on a pig roast, pineapple filled lettuce wraps and coconut milkshakes to follow. I agree that this is a nice day dream of sorts. However, as I read further along in the blog I learned that she had never really dreamt of the locale. Instead it all unraveled from her computer automatically replacing Bainbridge Island, the name of a place she wanted to attend a county fair to see a creature called a zedonk, with the fictional Beanbag Island. As is often the case, I found fact was stranger than fiction in this instance. Apparently, a zedonk is a zebra and donkey hybrid of sorts. Another twist of her imagination, maybe. Not one I will spend much time trying to visualize.
Funky Bean Bags site has a menagerie of outdoor bean bags, but you will have to look elsewhere for a zedonk.

I love that Oprahs magazine has shown bean bags in two different editions. While not everyone is an admirer of Oprah Winfrey, there are certain things that I just do not think anyone could a disagree with that she sheds light upon. Now the things I speak of might be basic, but without her they would not receive as much attention, and may go unnoticed. One of these things are splendid reading material and the other is the wonderful bean bag.
I personally think that reading a good book goes hand in hand with lounging in a bean bag. Together they create a snippet of time that stands still just for me. After I sink into the luxurious feel of my bean bag, and crack open a highly recommended book, everything else fades into the background. Now, gobs and gobs of people rely on the reading lists created by Ms. Winfrey, and as they rustle through the magazine with that list they happen upon other things. One of those repeated items has been the bean bag and I think this is a well placed idea. Surely, no one could disagree.

Much like contemporary art, people often think that the contemporary bean bag must be far out in design. They expect the bean seats to only be available in certain colours that have been deemed modern. However, when introduced to the new modelled bean furniture, those same people are usually quite surprised and impressed with the reality of the pieces.
While there are still shades to appeal to the quintessential new age lovers, the updated bean bag collections incorporate a rainbow of shades to work in any establishment. In fact, the design magazines have shown bean bag seats in every variation of genre under the sun. So, unlike modern artwork, these chairs offer an appeal for every type of person, and taste.
Peruse the modern bean bags on the Funky Bean Bag website to see what we mean.
